Jewish Aid Australia helps young kids to “Stand Up” And Be Counted

Jewish Aid Australia

Jewish Aid Australia (JAA) is dedicated to pursuing social justice for disadvantaged communities in Australia and overseas. Through their education programs in the Jewish community, they enable participants to realise and practice core Jewish values of tzeddek – Justice, chessed – kindness and tikkun olam – repairing the world.

Jewish Aid Australia expands the ‘Stand Up’ program

Stand Up began in 2009 as JAA sought to address the lack of engaging programs for young children which focus on the relation between their Jewish identity and their identity as global citizens.

Gandel Foundation saw great potential to support this program and help it grow and engage hundreds of kids each year around Australia.

Through the support of Gandel Foundation, JAA have been able to significantly expand the program in Melbourne as well as launch Stand Up in Sydney and have witnessed first-hand how effectively it engages and empowers young people. The participants learn and then teach their parents about ethical consumption and how to make positive change the world. The parents are proud to see their kids ‘standing up’ confidently and passionately explaining these important issues.
